In June 2027, I’m riding the Tour of Tours with Le Loop, a three‑week endurance challenge built from some of the most iconic and demanding Tour de France stages ever ridden. The route covers 2,935 km and 54,000 metres of climbing, including legendary summit finishes and historic mountain passes. This site follows my preparation and explains how sponsors can support the challenge and the William Wates Memorial Trust.
You can follow my training and the ride itself on my blog page, and support me by visiting the sponsorship page.
There’s going to be nothing glamorous about the hard miles and training needed for the Tour of Tours. It’s going to be tough, it needs long rides in all weathers, legs that refuse to turn (shut up legs!), and the quiet grind of getting back on the bike when everything aches.
I’ve only ever ridden one multi‑day tour before , Windsor to Spain , and that was twenty‑six years ago, when I was 32 and could still rely on youthful recovery to get me out of trouble.
This time it’s going to be different: every climb, every dawn start, every stretch of fatigue will be earned the hard way. I will need stubborn determination, and the will to keep going when my body says stop. Your support will help give me that.
Alongside the ride, I’m researching and drafting my forthcoming book, which explores the original Tour stages behind the Tour of Tours , the riders, the drama, and the mythology that made them iconic. The writing will only be complete once I’ve trained for, ridden, and absorbed each stage myself, weaving my 2027 experience into the history of the roads that came before, from 1939 to 2026.
Each day on the Tour will give me new detail, the feel of the gradients, the rhythm of the climbs, the character of the towns, all of which will shape how the historical chapters come alive. The book is about understanding these roads first‑hand and telling the stories of the riders who made them legendary.

About Me: I’m a British cyclist based in Newbury, Berkshire, and a long‑standing member of Newbury Velo. I’ve spent years riding sportives and club events, but the Tour of Tours will be the biggest physical challenge of my life; three weeks of back‑to‑back endurance riding that will push me further than anything I’ve taken on before. I’m committed to the training, preparation and discipline needed to get to the start line, and I’m riding to support the William Wates Memorial Trust, please sponsor my tour. I’m also riding in memory of my parents, whose encouragement shaped my love of adventure. Carrying their memory through each stage gives the challenge a deeper personal meaning and a reason to keep pushing when the road turns steep.
